A patient intake platform that clinicians actually use
Problem
Patients filled out paper intake forms in the waiting room, and front-desk staff re-keyed them into the EHR by hand — a process prone to transcription errors and a major source of visit delays.
Approach
We designed a tablet-based intake flow that writes directly into Averro's EHR via its FHIR API, with a review step for front-desk staff instead of full re-entry. Rollout started with a single clinic running the new flow alongside paper forms for two weeks before removing paper entirely.
Architecture
The intake app runs offline-first on shared tablets, queuing FHIR writes locally and syncing when connectivity is available — a requirement once we found waiting-room Wi-Fi wasn't reliable enough to depend on directly.
